Our initial booking had a strong unpleasant odor and was surrounded by baboons, making it difficult to open the doors. However, the owners promptly responded and swiftly upgraded us to a fantastic property. Their professionalism was exemplary.

The village was easy to navigate by foot. Great restaurants were close to the hotel. There were lovely shops a-plenty. The security has increased a lot since our last visit as had general cleanliness. Service everywhere was exemplary.

The main purpose of going to Franschhoek is to eat in some of the fabulous restaurants. Apart from that there is not a lot else to do and it can be very hot making it uncomfortable just to walk around the village. If self catering there are very good grocery stores including Woolworths Food and a relatively new and modern Checkers. There is also a large Pick n Pay but it is a much lower standard than the other two which are more up market.

We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer.
We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer. We love wandering along Huguenot Street with its many shops and small restaurants and the market on Saturdays and Sundays. We visited Haute Cabriere, Mont Rochelle and Mullineux & Leeu. We enjoyed an excellent lunch in all and had the best wine tasting in Mullineux & Leeu. On the way out we had “high tea” (at 10.30 am) in Orangerie at Le Lude which was quite amazing

Loved Franschhoek but 2 or 3 nights here would probably be enough as town is lovely but small. A great base for doing the winre tram and visiting the various wineries but many can also be reached just as easiliy from Stellenbosch which seemed a little livelier and more going on. Liked the market with drinks and music.
Drivers take note the pass into Franschhoek (the R45 from the R43 or R321) is closed 0900-1700 weekdays until the end of Feb 2024!

Franschoek is a gem!
Franschoek is a gem! Fabulous places to stay, a most beautiful Main Street with so much character, beautiful shops and restaurants, and the Wine Tram. This runs like clockwork and is a perfect way to visit several wine estates without needing to use your car. The estates are fabulous and you stop as long as you like, hopping on the next tram when you are ready!
Beautiful house with everything you would need available. Very private. Lot of space in and around the house inclusive the extra sleeping room in the back of the garden, which effectively is a studio on its own with its own patio. Everything there to host an extra couple except the kitchen which is in the main house. JJ is a great host and very easy reachable. Swimming pool is very small but lovely to cool off. Easy walking distance from the centre of Franschhoek. Very quiet and pleasant neighbourhood. A great place!
The room was lovely and very spacious, Unfortunately due to excessive rain we had a flood in our bathroom and had to move rooms, we were moved to a two bedroom villa with private pool which was a bit of a bonus!
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was freshly cooked to order.
Unfortunately due to flooding in the area the wine tram was cancelled which was our main reason for visiting Franschhoek but this was obviously beyond the control of the hotel
I got upgraded due to a faulty aircon in the apartment I booked and the host was most apologetic and I got upgraded to a two bedroom, very nice and comfortable apartment. I highly recommend The Ivy apartments to anyone wanting self catering accommodation in Franschhoek. It’s well tastefully furnished and very central and walking distance from all the good restaurants in town.
Beautiful, comfortable room. Linen was soft and luxurious, and the bathroom was big and comfortable. The room is beautiful and while it's not the biggest has great features like a delicious coffee machine. Within walking distance from downtown Franschhoek, which means you don't have to worry about parking in this always-busy area.
The breakfast provided a fantastic choice of cold and warm food, including some delicious and unusual options such as the blue cheese and bacon tart tine.
The location was excellent - with all Franschhoek has to offer only a few minutes walk from the hotel.
All of the staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful.
La Fontaine is a very nice and well equipped hotel in Franschhoek. The personnel (Caecilia, Kim, etc.) was very friendy and helpful and we felt very welcome from the first moment we stepped in. Our room was very spacious and the facilities left nothing to be desired. The breakfast buffet is great an the food very nice.
Great hotel in Franschhoek - perfect location in town and just what we needed for a 1 night stay. The pool area was so lovely and relaxing - a proper little sun trap to relax in after a day of wine tasting. Staff super friendly and looked after our bags whilst we were out and before the room was ready.
This is a lovely, boutique-style hotel with beautiful gardens of flowers, plants and bushes. It is very pretty. We find that the rooms are bright, modern and very comfortable. We stayed here for the first time in 2022, and wanted to come back this year because we liked it so much.
The hotel is in an excellent location, minutes from the centre of Franschhoek and offers an excellent shuttle service to guests at no extra charge. The facilities at the hotel are exceptional, with beautiful gardens and two outdoor pools. The restaurant on site is an added bonus!
Personalised cooked breakfast with continental buffet too. Picturesque location. 24hr security on front gate to the site. Complimentary wine and extras in the restaurant for being a hotel guest. Restaurant and wine tasting (one of the better ones in Franschhoek) located on site.
The property is beautiful and the staff were all very friendly. The location is great - either a 5 minute uber or 20 minute walk into the center of Franschhoek. We stayed in the Stone Cottage and thought it was stunning. The Pigcasso farm opposite is great fun.
Was a lovely self catering cottage . Very close to town. Lovely patios and gardens . House was fully equipped you didn’t need a thing. Tim has a wealth of knowledge about the area and was very kind and helpful. A lovely home away from home.
A beautiful little hotel in all aspects. Stunning location in Franschhoek, beautifully decorated room with the most comfortable bed, wonderful garden, perfect fresh breakfast and great hosts. And all that for an affordable price!
Very comfortable stay just outside central Franschhoek. The countryside view from the pool area is magical. The room was very elegant and comfortable. The staff was excellent and breakfast was very good.
10/10! We will absolutely stay again on our next trip to South Africa. The hotel is stunning, and the staff are so helpful, they even have a free shuttle to take you to any restaurant/wine farm nearby
I rate this hotel 5 stars! The ambience was calming, the rooms were spacious, clean and had all amenities needed with a scenic mountain view. My personal treat was the breakfast!
A spacious and comfortable self catering apartment in the heart of Franschhoek. Close to great restaurants and amenities. We would definitely recommend 👌
Amazing hotel in the heart of Franschhoek! The facilities were incredible, but the staff are what made the place. Very warm, welcoming and accommodating.
